Stephenson has been at the helm of delivering one of the city of Brampton's largest multicultural events, ChutneyFest - a celebration of the cultural diversity of the Indo Caribbean community. Stephenson Nanan is a life-long passionate and experienced musician with extensive
experience that includes orchestral, band, and live festival/events performances. He is a skilled
guitar/bass player, keyboardist, and studio programmer with versatility in writing and arranging
music, as well as digital composition and recording processes. He was blessed with the
opportunity to study at the Walter School of Music in Trinidad and Tobago, graduating in guitar
and Piano. In 1989, Stephen made his move to Canada, where his main focus was to complete
his studies in telecommunication, but with an ongoing commitment to performance. As time
passed, Stephen became recognized as one of the leading sound engineers in the industry with
the ability to mix any style of music. With his varying expertise in event and musical planning
and arrangement, Stephen oversees the entirety of the festival, keeping Chutneyfest lively and
entertaining each and every year!
- Stage Programming Director
Kiran attended the University of Ontario and obtained a Bachelor’s in Criminology. He has been with the ChutneyFest team since the beginning of the festival and continues to ensure that the
stage production and operations are top of the line, keeping ChutneyFest packed with the
necessary elements to keep it visually entertaining. Kiran utilizes his past experience with stage
programming and festival production to elevate the outstanding stage production that we have
each and every year at ChutneyFest!
- Digital and Social Media Marketing Director
Kamela has a degree in Music Production & Sound Engineering and an advanced diploma in Music Business Management. She is the Digital & Social Media Marketing Director for ChutneyFest. Using the skills and knowledge she has gained from both programs has allowed her to lead our Social Media & Marketing department. She is always looking and working on fresh new ways & perspectives to interact and give our attendees/viewers the best experience they can possibly have.
- Artist and Stage Director
Celine attended York University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Society, and is currently continuing her Post-Graduate studies. She diligently works alongside the ChutneyFest team for over seven years, during the past years she has taken on versatile roles from volunteer coordination to social media assistance. Currently, Celine works vigorously to ensure that the variety and selection of the artists and performers are the best talents globally!
- Video and Editing Coordinator
Abigail attends the University of Toronto - Mississauga working towards a Bachelors in Political Science. She uses her creativity and a keen eye to coordinate and oversee all video and editing material and production. Abigail ensures that all aspects of live editing and video are accurately created and streamed. She strategically coordinates performances and artists’ videos based on their different genres to enhance the overall quality and production of Chutneyfest!
- Volunteer and Logistics Manager
Geeta has a versatile background in organizational and administrative work, she hones these skills to assist Chutneyfest to reach successful heights by ensuring that all logistic needs are met and oversees the entirety of the project. Her corporate background as a regional manager allows her to prevail in her present role at ease; Geeta brings a vibrant light and energy towards the event, and keeps everybody on track!
- Sound Operations Coordinator
Vijai is an established musician and singer that has been apart of the ChutneyFest team from the start. He comes from a musically talented family and has been in the entertainment industry since age 14. Vijai has many years of sound experience and brings his knowledge and talent to the ChutneyFest team. With that being said, Vijai enjoys lending a helping hand for those in the community!
- Social Media Assistant Volunteer
Nandeeta is a nursing student at York University and has been volunteering with ChutneyFest since the age of fifteen. She embraces her Indo-Caribbean culture through assisting the needs of ChutneyFest’s social media platform and enjoys spreading her Indo-Caribbean culture amongst all digital communities. She helps create and formulate videos and online material which keeps ChutneyFest active and happening and social media!
- Community Outreach Assistant Volunteer
Fara studied within Trinidad and Tobago at Princes Town Senior Comprehensive and brought her cultural roots here to Canada. This gives her an undivided edge to understanding the community and how to relate to those who want to be involved in our Indo-Caribbean culture. She strives to promote and works extremely hard to engage and involve our local community in Chutneyfest!
- Security Operations Coordinator
Jason is a security operations coordinator at ChutneyFest, as he utilizes his managerial and supervising skills to correlate with the security and ensure that ChutneyFest is safe and secure for all attendees. Jason has been apart of the ChutneyFest team since conception, and knows the ins and outs for correlating a safe event!
- Live Stream Production Assistant
Dylan is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science from York University. Ever since he was young he has been involved in music and Indo-Caribbean culture, learning classical Indian music from the age of 5 and moving into classical western music during his time in the Regional Arts Program at Mayfield Secondary School. He has experience in streaming on Ustream, YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook, and in embedding stream portals and viewports on the organization's websites. He loves technology and his culture and seeks any opportunity he can to learn as much as possible. During his spare time, he enjoys singing and performing for his community.
- Foreign Artist Assistant
Ivana uses her broadcasting background, and utilizes these amazing skills within the ChutneyFest team! She began her endeavor into the Indo-Caribbean culture as she began working in the arts at age eleven, and further got involved in professional theatre within Trinidad and Tobago as she did show tours with Randy Glasgow, Crazy Contagious Crew, Cindon Productions, Dc Shell Theatre, and various theatre productions. Ivana is globally known for her voice-over work, MC work, etc. Ivana worked at Hott 93.5fm, and currently works at the East Indian Radio, Taj 92.3 FM commonly referred to as the DesiGirl. She brings light and energy the ChutneyFest team near and far!
- Stage and Sound Assistant
Vikash is the youngest member of the ChutneyFest team; nonetheless, he’s always been driven to accomplish any task that is thrown at him no matter the level of difficulty. Vikash is currently a high school senior student and is an aspiring electrician. Vikash grew up being surrounded by music and enjoys working with speakers and other sound components. He started playing drums at the age of fourteen and is currently the drummer for The Band Destiny. Vikash’s assistance on the ChutneyFest stage helps the sound run without a glitch!
- Vendor and Food Assistant
Sumintra assists the ChutneyFest team with her hard work and diligence around vendering and food; from her obtaining her mixologist license to working amongst the years with the ChutneyFest team, Sumintra is the perfect person to fill this role and ensure that the quality of vendors at ChutneyFest are always top-notch and well served!

Deborah is an experienced communications writer and development strategist, having worked in the public and charitable sector for over 20+ years. This includes experience working for hospitals, universities, crown corporations and government agencies, grassroots and community organizations, as well as with entrepreneurs and social innovation groups. She has a Masters in Art History from the University of St. Andrews and did her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto.
